Who We Are

Our department includes 19 total faculty members with expertise in the following areas: educational psychology and foundations, instructional design and technology (IDT), and school library media (SLM). The graduate programs within our department (SLM & IDT) are the number one programs in the state for their respective fields. They have both been recognized by the University of West Georgia as award winners for teaching excellence within a department.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

The Department of Educational Technology and Foundations prepares educators, including teachers, school librarians, instructional coaches, and instructional designers, to create authentic and well-designed learning experiences in various environments. Additionally, we support these individuals in diagnosing and solving real-world performance problems. 

Our faculty have expertise in the following broad areas:

  • Training design, development, and evaluation for any instructional setting (K12, higher education, business and industry, etc.)
  • Instructional coaching
  • Performance improvement
  • Effective technology integration
  • Emerging technology selection (e.g., AR/VR, Coding and robotics)
  • Learning space design (e.g., media centers and makerspaces)
  • Collection Development 
  • Creating and managing instructional technology and school library media programs
